When you live in your RV full-time, you’ll want more extensive coverage than a part-timer would.

Any RV insurance policy will include the same basic coverage as any auto policy, such as bodily injury liability, property damage liability, and uninsured motorist coverage. But because a full-timer’s RV is also their home, they’re going to want extra protection from their policy. For example, personal effects replacement (aka personal property coverage) covers the replacement cost of your personal belongings inside your RV. Another example is total loss replacement, an extra coverage that replaces your RV or reimburses you for the value in the event that it’s totaled.

Another extra coverage that full-timers will likely want is emergency expense coverage. If something happens to your RV, this type of coverage provides things like lodging and meals until the situation is resolved.

Roadside assistance is also a common part of RV insurance policies. If you break down, run out of fuel, or have any other issues on the road, this policy will help you get help and get back on the road.

Part-time RV policies may also include many of these coverages. But the key difference for full-timers is that this coverage is more essential and typically will have higher limits. This means that full-time RV insurance costs are higher than for part-time policies. But, that extra amount is well worth the extra coverage you’ll need as a full-timer.
