Step Up Your Truck Camper With A Truck Tire Step

A Truck Tire Step Can Give You A Boost When you Need It

Pickup trucks are amazingly versatile. Having a camper on a pickup truck is even better, allowing you to RV camp in places that other RVs can’t reach. However, both pickup trucks and the campers on them are tall. This can make it difficult to wash the entire windshield or do anything to service the motor. It can also be challenging to reach things in the box of the truck when the camper is off. This is especially true for those who are vertically challenged—having a truck tire step can help in all of these situations.

What’s A Truck Tire Step?

A truck tire step is a small platform that fits securely over the wheel of the pickup truck to allow access to areas of the truck that would otherwise be difficult to reach. The apparatus is fully adjustable to be custom-fitted to any tire size. When not in use, the truck tire step folds very compactly to store neatly away until you need it. Truck tire step prices range between just $45 and $75, so they can easily fall into most RVing budgets.

1. Powerbuilt Heavy Duty Tire Step

The Powerbuilt truck tire step is as tough as its name suggests. With a 300 lb weight capacity and an anti-slip cheese grater step surface, this truck tire step is designed to be sturdy and slip-free through any season. The Powerbuilt’s fully adjustable design allows it to be used on any vehicle, from cars to semi-trucks, as long as the cross width of the tire is less than 13 inches and 12 ” deep. When you’re done washing, waxing, or servicing your rig, it quickly folds up to be stored behind a seat or in the truck bed.

2. Heininger Hitchmate 4040 Tire Step

The Heininger Hitchmate 4040 tire step is sturdy with a 400 lb step pad capacity. Reviewers loved its sturdiness, and ease of use. It has three verticle settings, so you can have the step pad as high or low as you need it. It is designed to fit tires with a tire width of fewer than 12.5 inches. The Heininger Hitchmate folds neatly and compactly to fit in its own (included) carrying case so it can be stowed behind the seat, in the bed of the pickup truck, or in the camper’s storage areas.

3. Argatin Folding Heavy Duty Step

The Argatin folding tire step got top marks from reviewers for adhesion, sturdiness, and ease of use. Its 300 lb weight capacity is sturdy enough to hold most people. In addition, Argatin lets buyers have their choice of step treads. You can get a solid check plate style tread or a cheese grater style that will be more useful in muddy, wet, or slippery conditions. Finally, the Argatin folding tire step folds compactly to fit behind the seat of your truck, in the truck bed, or a storage compartment in your camper.

Conclusion

A tire step is a must-have truck accessory that allows you to reach areas of your truck without straining easily. The step can also be used as a small but useful outdoor shelf to set items on when camping. With the right chair set up, it could even act as a side table! A great part of these steps is that they fold up to store when they aren’t in use. Do you have a tire step that you use on your truck camper?

  1. The tire steps are very useful. TIP: often can find the tire steps at GoodWill type outlets. Have bought several for self and friends at $2-$10. As not always available, one must be alert well before the need is at hand….otherwise, spend full tilt for the convenience, lack of planning, foresight.
