Tent stakes should be durable, light-weight, and made of aluminum or steel for best performance.
While all tents are packaged with stakes, they’re generally inadequate for more challenging environments and cheaply made.
The good news is it isn’t difficult to find replacement tent stakes. They come in practically every conceivable configuration, from the type of stake (e.g., traditional shepherd’s crook design, V-shaped, Y-shaped), to numerous lengths (from 6″ to 10″).
My personal preference is to buy stakes nearer the 10″ length as they’ll give you peace of mind in the event of heavy rain or strong wind.
